Junior Low Voltage Technician / Helper

About the Role

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Junior Low Voltage Technician / Helper to join our installation team.

This is a hands-on position for someone who is interested in learning the low voltage and security systems trade. Some previous experience with low voltage cabling, construction, electrical work, security systems, or other hands-on technical work is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

The ideal candidate is reliable, willing to learn, comfortable using tools, and takes pride in doing clean and professional work.

Responsibilities

The Junior Low Voltage Technician / Helper will work with experienced technicians and project teams on commercial and industrial job sites. Responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with pulling, routing, dressing, and securing low voltage cable
• Assisting with installation of CAT5e, CAT6, fiber, coax, and other low voltage cabling
• Learning to terminate data jacks, keystones, patch panels, and network cabling
• Assisting with installation of J-hooks, cable trays, raceway, sleeves, conduit, and cable pathways
• Labeling cables, devices, and equipment
• Assisting with cable testing and troubleshooting
• Helping install CCTV cameras, access control devices, intrusion systems, intercoms, networking equipment, and other low voltage systems
• Maintaining clean and organized racks, closets, cabinets, equipment rooms, and work areas
• Using hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other installation equipment safely
• Following instructions from lead technicians and project supervisors
• Following company installation standards, safety procedures, and jobsite requirements
• Keeping tools, materials, and work areas organized
• Traveling to job sites as required

Qualifications

• Some experience in low voltage, cabling, electrical, construction, security systems, or other hands-on technical work is preferred
• Entry-level candidates with a strong willingness to learn will also be considered
• Basic ability to use hand and power tools
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Dependable, punctual, and professional
• Good attention to detail
• Willingness to learn proper cabling, installation, termination, and testing techniques
• Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers
• Must be willing to travel to job sites as needed
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

The following are helpful but not required:

• Previous low voltage or structured cabling experience
• Experience with CAT5e or CAT6 cabling
• Experience with CCTV, access control, intrusion, intercom, networking, or similar systems
• Construction or electrical experience
• Familiarity with ladders, lifts, drills, cable tools, or testing equipment
• OSHA, lift, or industry certifications

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry tools, ladders, cable boxes, and equipment
• Ability to work on ladders and lifts
• Ability to work above ceilings, in equipment rooms, and on active construction sites
• Ability to bend, kneel, climb, pull cable, and work with hand and power tools
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors depending on project conditions
